February 14, 2017 — Chris, as I walk on the court with you tonight (and your Dad by our side) I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to you on your many accomplishments thus far, but we know God is not finished with you yet! As I type this message to you, tears are running down my face because my heart is overjoyed, yet I am so sad. Chris you have overcome so many obstacles in your life. Some of which I would have just thrown in the towel, but by the grace of God, you continue to persevere – Stars can’t shine without darkness! You have and continue to show me just why God placed You in MY life and not ME in yours!
When it comes to character and integrity, Chris, you are first team All-American! I am thankful to your father, MY Albert and the many family, friends, mentors, teachers, trainers, coaches, parents, total strangers, etc. who have assisted you in overcoming those obstacles and in your path to manhood. I am so proud of the young man you are and the man you WILL become. I am forever grateful for the lessons learned, the memories gained and the joy I have received watching you grow. You have and continue to make me proud!
As hard as it will be when the game clock goes to 0:00 for the last time in your high school career and you start the beginning of yet another one, remember those pages of yesterday have been written and cannot be revised, but the pages of tomorrow are blank and you hold the pen. I know you will make it an inspiring story! Chris, I would like to leave this with you…
Senior Night means… possibilities. The possibility of new beginnings, a future and change. Tonight is the night you play your final high school varsity basketball game and where you start yet another chapter in your life and your future (the ending) is up to you. Tonight is the night you accept the challenge; and you know there will be plenty of challenges; face your fears, and embrace the possibilities that await you. Continue to put God first in your life and allow Him to direct your path. Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go — SMILE — just remember how far you have come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome.
You have and continue to make us so proud!
Love you to the moon and back.
Love You MORE,
MOM
