Chris Scaife… Next Level Baller Tournament

facebooktwittermailby feather

The 2014 Next Level Baller Tournament was held in Dallas May 9-11. In the 1st game on Saturday against MAEKO, Chris came out ready to play. First knocking down a 3 pointer. He drove to the basket a lot, drawing fouls and going to the line. He went 6 for 6 on the line and contributed 2 assists. Chris later in the 2nd half knocked down another 3 at the end of the game. Chris finished with 12 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

In game 2 against TA Pistons, Chris got in foul trouble early on. But before that, he had 3 blocks and 1 assists. Therefore, he was limited to points in game 2, only scoring 7 points and grabbing 5 rebounds and adding 2 more blocks due to foul trouble which resulted in limited minutes. Hardwood Elite was still able to pull off a win!

The semi final game against Oklahoma Express was sure to be a tough one. Oklahoma Express was a dominant team, out scoring other opponents by 20 or more points. But Hardwood Elite would not be taken lightly. Again with limited minutes due to foul trouble, Chris contributed 6 points, 2 assists, and pulled down 4 rebounds in the first half. In the second half, down by 2 points with 2:30 left to play, Chris grabbed another rebound and drove down the court to be fouled behind the 3 point line. Chris knocked all 3 free throws down to put Hardwood Elite up by 1. Chris finished with 9 points, 2 assists, and 4 rebounds. Hardwood Elite went on to win 63-62.

The championship game on Sunday, May 11th would also be a tough game. Hardwood Elite would face ABC Select, a solid team from Little Rock, AR. ABC Select off the tip would take a 10 pt lead and would never look back. However, Chris’ game excelled against this tough team after only scoring 2 points in the first half.

In the second half, Chris became ferocious… he began to should physical toughness, driving to the basket, grabbing rebounds, forcing jump balls and knocking down buckets. Chris ended a tough game with a reverse lay up; finishing with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.

Overall this was another great tournament for Chris. He went 11 for 12 on the free throw line the entire tournament. Missing his first free throw in the championship game.

Again, this tournament Chris played all positions throughout each of the games… guard, shooting guard and post. Although Chris doesn’t like playing the post position, he steps up to play post whenever asked; does it well and delivers every time.

I can truly say I am seeing tremendous improvements in Chris’ overall game with every tournament he plays. Chris, Job well done!
